Join us in conferring Honorary Membership on Maya Hess, founder of Red T

Maya Hess is the founder and CEO of Red T, a non-profit organisation that advocates worldwide on behalf of translators and interpreters in high-risk settings. As a court-appointed forensic linguist, she has provided language support and expert witness services in many high-profile terrorism trials, experiencing firsthand just how vulnerable members of her profession can be. She holds a doctorate in criminal justice, a master’s in journalism, and an advanced certificate in terrorism studies.

Honorary Membership of the Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association (ITIA) is conferred on individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the field of translation and interpreting around the world. The ITIA is delighted to announce that Maya Hess is the very worthy recipient of our 2023 award. Her unstinting advocacy on behalf of linguists, and her consistent inclusion of the widest possible coalition of international partners in this vital lobbying work, has increased exponentially our understanding and awareness of linguists at risk.

After the award ceremony, Maya will speak for approximately 45 minutes about the work of Red T, after which she will be happy to take questions from the audience.

All welcome and admission is free. Book your place HERE.
