Mary Phelan lectures in Spanish and translation at the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies at Dublin City University (DCU) where she is the Chairperson of the MA in Translation Studies and the MSc in Translation Technology. From 2004 to 2009 she ran the Graduate Certificate in Community Interpreting programme at DCU. Mary is particularly interested in the lack of regulation of interpreters who work in garda stations and courts and the lack of provision of interpreters to work with GPs and in hospitals and other medical settings in Ireland. Mary has carried out extensive research on the historical provision of interpreters in the courts, particularly for the Irish language, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Trish Van Bolderen holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance (York University) and a master’s and PhD in Translation Studies (University of Ottawa). She has over 20 years’ experience as a language professional with expertise in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, and she currently works as an English-language reviser and a translator (French and Spanish into English). Trish is also an active Translation Studies scholar, whose research focuses on literary self-translation, primarily within Canada. In addition to being a member of the ATII, she is affiliated with organisations such as the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS) and the Canadian Association for Translation Studies (CATS).

Graziano Ciulli is a freelance translator from English into Italian and a Professional Member of the ATII. He holds a postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Specialised Translation and an MA in Linguistics and Translation Studies from the University of Westminster (London), where he also taught technical translation as a visiting lecturer for several years. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (UK).

Anne Larchet has been working as a freelance interpreter of Spanish and English since 2008. She interprets in the courts, police stations, hospitals, prisons as well as the immigration offices of ORAC and RAT. She has interpreting experience in diverse private enterprise areas such as civil engineering, book publishing and litigation. She has a BA (Hons) in Arabic and Spanish from UCD, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies from DCU and a Certificate in Spanish law from The Law Society of Ireland. She was a scholarship student at the American University Cairo, Egypt. Anne is Editor of the ATII Bulletin.

Sarah Berthaud has worked and lectured in translation and interpreting with English and French for over 10 years. She completed an MA in Advanced Language Skills at NUIG, an interpreting training course with DGSCIC, and a PhD in Language Sciences at NUIG. She has experience in legal, academic and humanitarian aid translation. She has worked as an interpreter in public service settings and at conferences around Ireland. She has taught and been involved in the development of courses in translation (theory and practice, specialised translation, translation research) and interpreting (conference and community interpreting, including consecutive, simultaneous, sight-interpreting) both in the UK and Ireland. She has published papers on language acquisition and translation and communities of practice within educational settings. She is currently conducting research on the impact of technology on translation and interpreting within Language Service Providers in Ireland and is involved in the Translation Studies Network of Ireland.

Sarah Jane Aberasturi is a Professional Member of the ATII and an ATII Certified Legal Translator (German and Spanish to English), and holds a B.A. (First Class Honours) in Applied Languages from Dublin City University. She launched her freelance career in Barcelona some 30 years ago, and translates largely on science and medicine, the arts and humanities. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate translation modules in DCU’s School of Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies, and delivers ATII workshops on Certified Legal Translation. She is a practicing member (English<>Spanish) of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). Other memberships include the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and the International Association of Translators and Writers in Medicine and Related Sciences (TREMÉDICA).

Mariana Ciocca Alves Passos is a professional English to Brazilian Portuguese translator. She is a Professional Member of the ATII and a member of APTRAD (Portuguese Association of Translators and Interpreters). She holds a BA in Language and Literature (Portuguese and English) from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and an MA in Applied Theology from the Irish Bible Institute. Her main areas of specialization are IT (apps, software, websites), Christian texts, and Education, but she also has experience with subtitling and community interpreting. After working as a freelance translator for over ten years, she is now the Brazilian Portuguese Language Lead at ServiceNow.

Miriam Watchorn MA, CLT, MATII, MCIL is a graduate of Université Charles de Gaulle, Lille, France and Dublin City University, Ireland. She also holds the Diploma in Translation awarded by the Chartered Institute of Linguists, UK. She has over 27 years’ experience in translation, specialising in legal and financial translation but also has a broad and diverse range of translation experience and interests. She teaches as a university lecturer in translation studies at Dublin City University, Ireland.

Victoria Moroz has been working as an interpreter of Ukrainian, Spanish and English since 2005, first as an in-house interpreter and translator at large industrial companies in Donetsk, Ukraine, and UAE, and then as a freelance translator and interpreter (simultaneous and consecutive), with expertise in the public, private, not-for-profit and international media sectors in Kyiv, Ukraine, and the EU since 2014. Since spring 2020 she predominantly works online. She holds a Specialist Diploma in Translation and Interpreting from the Donetsk Open University (Ukraine). She was a scholarship student at the University of Cadiz, Spain. She was initiator and moderator of the Interpreting Track of the Ukrainian Translation Industry Conference in 2019-2021. Since April 2022 she is based in Naas, Ireland.

Cristina Barroso is a graduate of Political Science (University of Granada/Science Po Bordeaux) and holds an MPhil in Literary Translation from Trinity College Dublin, where she is currently a PhD candidate in Translation Studies. Cristina’s research explores the possibilities of bridging the gap between the localisation industry and the literary translation market, through the study of story-rich video games, and electronic literature. Her interests include collaborative translation, translation quality and translation workflows. Cristina is a student member of the ITIA and works as a reviewer of literary translations, from English into Spanish.
