On November 2, 2024 the ATII held the award ceremony for the winners of the Translation Competition for Secondary School Students. Six winners attended along with their parents. As one student was abroad, her grandmother kindly collected the certificate on her behalf.
The competition was introduced in 2016 and this year translations could be submitted in 11 languages: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Ukrainian, Irish into English and English into Irish.
This was a great opportunity for secondary school students to have a go at translation.
Many thanks to all the assessors who chose texts in the relevant languages and went through all the entries. Thanks also to secondary schools and teachers who encourage students to enter the competition. And to all the students who entered the competition.
